ABOUT THE BRAND
ORIGIN STORY
Vatos Muertos started as a high school art project. I sketched a skeleton smoking a cigar and screen-printed it on a small batch of t-shirts. The school banned the shirts because of the cigar, but that only made them more popular. Word spread, and suddenly I had to figure out how to keep up with demand. What began as a class assignment has since evolved into a full-fledged clothing brand.
NAME MEANING
Vatos Muertos loosely translates to “the dead homies.” The name is inspired by Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead)—a vibrant Mexican tradition that honors the lives of those who’ve passed. It’s believed the gates of heaven open briefly, allowing families to reconnect with the spirits of their loved ones.
That blend of remembrance, celebration, and keeping the past close has always stuck with me. The name reflects both the roots of the brand and the spirit it carries—one that respects where we’ve come from while pushing forward with purpose.
WHO'S IT FOR
It's for the ones who move a little different. It’s for people who see the value in quality, storytelling, and pushing boundaries—because that’s who I am, and that’s who I make this for. Some people connect with the message; others might just like the designs. Either way, it’s all made with the same care.
Everything I put out blends streetwear, art, and storytelling into pieces that feel personal—like they carry weight. Over the years, I’ve obsessed over refining every detail, from design to production. That commitment to growth and integrity is something my customers recognize and value.
HOW IT'S MADE
Everything is produced in small, intentional batches. I handle it all—from the first sketch to the final product. It usually starts with a concept or a story, then becomes a full collection: graphics, cut and sew, packaging, lookbooks—every part of it.
Sometimes I take on special projects, like a collaboration with Newport High School’s soccer team. I grew up playing on that team, so designing custom Nike training kits and releasing them to the community was a full-circle moment. Projects like that carry a deeper meaning.
BEHIND THE BRAND
Vatos Muertos is independently owned and led by me, Brock Miller—a designer with a background in visual storytelling and branding. Every piece, every photo, every detail reflects my vision. The goal is always the same: make something honest, make it with care, and keep evolving.
